She has but one goal: to accomplish her irreducible daily tasks at a pace robotically dictated by "the Machine". Taken in by an online advertisement, the Woman-To-Whom-Nothing-Happens is confronted by what she most dreads: that a thing should happen to her.
A modern, zany fairy tale, La Femme à qui rien n'arrive is an absurdist comedy that will make your hair stand on end.
Performed in French with English captions

Suitable for 14+
Runs 1 hour with no intermission
Our Work
-
French Productions
We partner with touring French productions to present works in their original French versions – with English subtitles – to francophone and francophile audiences in America. We aim to serve the 12 million French-speakers residing in America, bringing live theater to their communities.
-
English Adaptations
We collaborate with American and French playwrights to create adaptations of contemporary French plays for francophile English-speaking audiences. Bringing a French play to the American stage is more than a matter of straight translation. We work with creators to deliver theatrical experiences with distinctive French flavors that hit home with American audiences.
-
Artist Conversations
We produce discussions for audiences in America to talk with writers, actors, and directors about their works and careers. In person or over video, these dialogues bridge language and geography.
We host the ongoing French Theater Club at the French Library / Alliance Française of Boston and Cambridge.
Why French theater?
France boasts an amazingly rich theatrical landscape, with over 20,000 enterprises dedicated to creating and producing live performances. This multi-billion dollar industry generates over 1,000 new theatrical works every year. The annual Festival Avignon OFF regularly boasts over 1,700,000 paid attendance to live spectacles during 3 weeks in July. In short, France offers a treasure trove for theater-lovers. The French Theater Project exists to import some of this goodness to American audiences by bringing down the barriers of geography and language.
